In the city of Blagoveshchensk, Amur Region, city competitions in skidoring on horses were held among the horse clubs of the city. Among the teams was the team of the Far Eastern Higher Combined Arms Command School (DVOKU) named after Marshal of the Soviet Union Konstantin Rokosovsky, who won prizes during the competition.

This extreme kind of sledding sport, as a new method in training cadets for mountain and arctic divisions, has been used in DVOKU recently and has already shown its effectiveness. Cadets perform ski runs in conjunction with horses. During the exercise, various obstacles are overcome, such as a snake, turns, trampolines. All maneuvers are carried out at a speed of about 40 kilometers per hour, which requires the skier to have high physical endurance and coordination of their actions.

To increase the effectiveness of training in skijoring, a competitive method of training is used both between cadets of the same division and among divisions. The cadets who showed the best results represent DVOKU at city and regional competitions.

For reference:

Skijoring is an extreme riding sport, during which the rider moves, clinging to a dog sled or horse. The horse moves in the middle of the track, along the edges of which there are various obstacles: trampolines, slalom “snakes” and others. Skiers need to overcome them without falling.
