On the basis of the Kursk State Polytechnic College, a separate subdivision of the Academy of the State Fire Service EMERCOM of Russia was opened. This is the fifth such branch in the country.

Vyacheslav Butko, Head of the State Fire Service Academy of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, and Ivan Lunev, Head of the Russian Emergencies Ministry’s Main Directorate for the Kursk Region, took part in the ceremony.

“There are people living and working in the Kursk region who want to invest energy and effort in solving security issues,” V. Butko noted. “We hope that the specialists who leave the walls of the branch of our educational institution will successfully work not only in the rescue department, but and many spheres of the economy for the benefit of the native land.

Negotiations on the opening of a branch began between the Regional Administration and the leadership of the university in early December, and after only two months the idea was implemented.

On the basis of the branch, students will be trained in such areas as “State and municipal management”, “Fire safety”, “Technosphere safety” and “Forensic examination”. The form of study is part-time. All graduates will receive a state diploma.

The representative office will also carry out explanatory and vocational guidance work, selection of applicants for training at the Academy.
