More than 13 thousand Muscovites have already become donors.

Since April 2020, donors have already donated 10 tons of plasma with antibodies to coronavirus infection in Moscow.

“For 10 months now, Moscow has been preparing plasma for the treatment of patients with coronavirus infection: during this period, the storage has already received 10 tons. This became possible thanks to Muscovites who recovered from the new infection – more than 13 thousand people have already become donors, ”the press service of the Moscow Social Development Complex said.

Plasma transfusion is a potentially effective treatment for coronavirus infection. It began to be used in Moscow hospitals in April last year. In the fall, the COVID-19 Clinical Committee approved a unified standard in the approach to inpatient treatment of patients with coronavirus infection. Plasma is used in the treatment of moderate to severe coronavirus infection in patients who are in hospitals.

Plasma transfusion is a constituent method of complex therapy. The effect is achieved through specific antibodies that plasma contains. They help neutralize the virus. The decision to carry out such a procedure is made by the attending physician, depending on the patient’s condition.

Plasma donors can be people who have recovered from COVID-19, aged 18 to 55 years (the donor must weigh more than 50 kilograms). For the donation of plasma with COVID-19 antibodies, the Moscow Mayor has established a reward of five thousand rubles. Donors also receive compensation for food in the amount of RUB 1,212.

To become a donor, you can contact the hotline by phone: +7 (495) 870-45-16. It is open daily from 09:00 to 19:00. Also detailed information is posted on the siteMoscow Department of Health. Here, a potential donor can fill out a questionnaire. The initial check will determine whether a person has temporary or absolute contraindications to donation.
