In IK-5 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Arkhangelsk Region, video appointments are currently very popular. Every week, the institution hosts 120 such video meetings between convicts and their relatives and friends.

Restrictive measures due to the epidemiological situation for some time changed the current procedure for maintaining socially useful ties by convicts with their relatives. Since March last year, long and short visits of convicts with their relatives have been canceled in correctional institutions of Pomorie. And telephone conversations and video meetings have become a good alternative to communicating with their relatives.

In IK-5 of the regional Federal Penitentiary Service, two video terminals are installed, with the help of which you can make a call to any city. This is a good opportunity for convicts to see their family and children, talk and discuss the latest news, and ask about their health. A visual presentation of the video call service was held for the film crew. The convict called his mother in Severodvinsk.

Employees of the educational work department of IK-5 explained to journalists that the number of telephone conversations, including video meetings, is not limited by law, only their duration is taken into account – up to 15 minutes. If the technical capabilities of the penal colony permit, such communication can take place on a daily basis. During the introduction of restrictive measures, almost 3,000 video visits were held in the colony.
