February 18 this year As part of a demonstration battalion tactical exercise, a subunit of the Guards airborne assault formation defeated a mock enemy grouping during a live-fire phase in an occupied defense zone at the Kamyshinsky training ground in the Volgograd region.
On the eve, over 350 paratroopers of the Guards airborne assault formation of the Airborne Forces took place on the landing site with the capture of the airfield.
With the support of artillery units, which fired from 120-mm self-propelled artillery guns 2S9 “Nona-S” and 122-mm howitzers D-30 and armament of combat vehicles of T-72B3 tanks, the advance of the advancing forces was stopped.
The destruction of the enemy was carried out with the support of Su-24 bombers and Mi-28N “Night Hunter” helicopters of the Aerospace Forces, which launched missile and bomb strikes against the accumulation of manpower and equipment.
In the defense zone of the reinforced paratrooper battalion, the servicemen practiced fighting with the use of BMD-2K-AU airborne combat vehicles, AK-12 assault rifles, PKM and Pecheneg machine guns, RPG-7d grenade launchers, and sniper weapons.
To create a situation as close as possible to a combat situation, during the tactical rally of hostilities, the leadership of the exercise changed the situation and provided additional input, which made it possible to assess the efficiency and correctness of decision-making by the commanders. A difficult radar situation was created.
In the course of practicing actions on the landing site and at the stage of live firing, units of unmanned aerial vehicles “Orlan-10” will be widely used for conducting aerial reconnaissance of the enemy and adjusting the fire of subunits attached to artillery.
More than 600 airborne troops and about 50 units of military equipment are taking part in the battalion tactical exercise, which is being held under the leadership of the Deputy Commander of the Airborne Forces, Major General Anatoly Kontsevoy, from February 15 to 18 this year.
