Guard sergeant Vyacheslav Ivanovich Yegorov met the war at the age of 17 in Moscow, was drafted in 1942 and sent to an infantry school in Vladimir. In 1943, the young officer ended up at the front in the Airborne Forces, where he served as part of the 106th Airborne Division of the 38th Airborne Corps.

Guard Lieutenant Yegorov made more than 40 parachute jumps from various aircraft. He landed from the wing of a Li-2 aircraft to the rear of the enemy. Was injured.

He was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Order of Glory of the 3rd degree, the medal “For the capture of Vienna”.
