The artillery crews of the Central Military District have completed the final preparations for the salute in honor of the Defender of the Fatherland Day. The festive volleys will take place in Yekaterinburg at 21 o’clock local time on the site deployed on the territory of the Central Park of Culture and Leisure named after V. Mayakovsky.

The day before, at the Sverdlovsky training ground, the servicemen held a dress rehearsal of the festive fireworks, during which they worked out the coordination of calculations and the synchronization of shots. A total of 30 volleys will be fired at intervals of 30 seconds.

In Yekaterinburg, the famous 76-mm ZIS-3 anti-tank guns of the 1942 model, which were widely used during the Great Patriotic War, are used for the production of fireworks. The ZIS-3 is the most massive weapon in the history of world artillery. For simplicity, obedience and reliability, the Soviet artillerymen called her affectionately – “Zosia”.
