The comprehensive plan for the modernization and expansion of the main infrastructure will be supplemented with measures aimed at the development of the Eastern range of railways. The order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

These include, in particular, the modernization of the Primorskaya GRES, the construction of two power units (215 MW) at the Neryungrinskaya GRES, an increase in the capacity of the Partizanskaya GRES and the construction of a power plant in the Bodaibinsky district of the Irkutsk region. Completion of the work is scheduled for 2024–2026.

These projects will power traction substations that convert electricity for supply to track infrastructure, which in turn will ensure uninterrupted train traffic and timely delivery of goods.

The development of the Eastern range of railways provides for a comprehensive modernization of the Baikal-Amur and Trans-Siberian railways. The planned activities will help to increase their throughput, increase the volume of cargo transportation and create the infrastructure necessary for the implementation of investment projects.
