February 21 marks the 145th anniversary of the birth of the Russian painter Pyotr Konchalovsky. Especially for the memorable date, the Museum Moscow Online portal prepared a virtual exhibition the artist’s things found in his workshop. You can visit it free of charge and without prior registration.

“On the portal you can see photographs of the exhibits of the exhibition Drawings and Sheet Music by Pyotr Konchalovsky, provided by the Museum of MA. Bulgakov. Among them are photographs of graphic sketches, sketches, notebooks, as well as rare sheet music published at the end of the 19th century. The artist’s studio is located on the Garden Ring – at 10 on Bolshaya Sadovaya. This workshop, Pyotr Konchalovsky, and then his son Mikhail occupied almost the entire XX century – from the 1910s to the 1990s. Several years ago, a workshop was opened here, which combines a museum and a painting school. Now it is closed for restoration.

On the portal “Museum Moscow Online” you can see photographs of some of the artist’s works that were found on Bolshaya Sadovaya. These are, for example, animalistic sketches in ink and pencil, created in the first half of the twentieth century. And also a sketch of a portrait of the famous Soviet ballerina Yekaterina Geltser. All these works are kept in the fund Museum of M.A. Bulgakov.

Members of the Konchalovsky family loved music and played the piano. There was even a grand piano in the artist’s studio: musicians such as Carlo Cecchi, Alexander Borovsky and Vladimir Sofronitsky held their home concerts here. Music editions of the late 19th – early 20th centuries, which belonged to Pyotr Konchalovsky, have survived to this day. Their pictures can also be found on the virtual exhibition.

The site contains electronic versions of other exhibits related to the Konchalovsky dynasty. For instance, notebook for French lessons, owned by the artist’s son Mikhail, or the book “Priceless Gift. Romantic reality “, which the painter’s daughter Natalya presented to the writer and her friend Konstantin Paustovsky.

Pyotr Konchalovsky was born in 1876 in the Kharkov province in the family of the writer and translator Pyotr Konchalovsky. He showed talent for painting since childhood. Dreaming of becoming an artist, he studied in Paris and then in Moscow. During the period of its formation, his style was strongly influenced by the ideas of the post-impressionists, including Paul Cezanne. In his mature years, the painter switched to the principles of realism. For 60 years, Konchalovsky has created about two thousand paintings.

Project “Museum Moscow Online” Is a virtual collection of exhibits from the capital’s museums. The portal regularly uploads information about new exhibitions, pictures of rare items from museum collections and their description. The resource allows you not only to view photos of exhibits, but also to add collections of interest to your own thematic albums. Also, users can order high-resolution images and leave comments.

Now on the project website you can find a description of 587 exhibitions, as well as electronic versions of more than 72 thousand exhibits.
