Librarian’s advice: we study garden fruits and vegetables with kids, and we read good books about animals with older children.

On weekends, employees of Moscow libraries tell readers about books that can captivate children of all ages.

Maksim Skrynnik, who works in the Children’s Library No. 207 named after V.V. Bianchi, advises to get acquainted with the good stories of Georgy Skrebitsky, Boris Ryabinin and a series of books by Rob Scott.

“What grows in the garden, in the garden” by Sergei Gordienko

To begin with, I would like to recommend a very fascinating and informative book by Russian writer Sergei Gordienko. It has everything that kids love so much: a lot of bright cute illustrations, funny poems about a garden, vegetables and fruits that are easy to learn by heart. If you give this book to a child, I guarantee that he will sit with it long enough without bothering anyone.

It will also come in handy when the summer cottage season begins, which is just around the corner. It will be possible to slowly walk with her in the garden and consolidate the learned material in practice. I think this is a great family vacation.

“Mouse Peak” by Vitaly Bianchi

The tale of the incredibly cute little mouse Pik is one of the most famous works of the naturalist writer Vitaly Bianchi. In Soviet times, his books could always be found in kindergartens and schools; his good books are being republished today.

Field mouse Peak goes to the goal, overcoming obstacles and making new friends. At each stage, the author skillfully presents the story of the little hero, it is impossible to remain indifferent – you start to empathize and hope that he will succeed and he will finally find a home. In this book, each reader will find something of his own, unique and memorable. And also – he will understand a lot of the life of forest dwellers.

“Kitten Shmyak” by Rob Scott

The Kitten Shmyak series is a world bestseller. There is not much text in them, but the illustrations created by the author (Rob Scott is a famous British writer and artist) perfectly complement the story. Books are ideal for getting started reading on your own.

The stories about Shmyak the kitten and his friends are so funny and kind that even the smallest readers can understand them without the help of adults. They are very popular in our library. If you are looking for books for family reading, then “Kitten Shmyak” is an excellent choice.

“Friends of my childhood” by Georgy Skrebitsky

The book contains kind, witty stories about the writer’s childhood, his travels, impressions, domestic animals, including a faithful dog, a cat and even a starling with a hedgehog. Some pets were given to him, others came to the house themselves. Parents allowed to keep everyone and encouraged it. In the course of the story, Skrebitsky tells something about the habits of his favorites, about their way of life. Animals and birds are the main characters here, and not just supporting characters.

Each of the stories is imbued with an immense love for animals. I recommend and guarantee: with this book, even more tenderness, sensitivity, ability to hear and desire to observe the world around you will settle in your heart.

“Niger. Life story of one dog “Boris Ryabinin

The book of the Soviet writer Boris Ryabinin about a very smart and kind dog named Niger is read in one breath. Even the most ardent enemy of dogs will treat them differently. The noble and intelligent animal has won over more than one reader’s heart.

Niger is not just a dog, he is a full-fledged member of the family for the girl Mani and her household. He looked after children many times, saved lives more than once, helped with the housework, went hunting and never offended anyone. Of course, it was not without troubles, but he came out of them with honor. Let me give myself a little spoiler: reading the last chapter, in which the dog goes into another world and looks at people with sad eyes, you will not be able to hold back your tears.

“Niger” was written in the late 1960s and was subsequently reprinted several times. Dogs often became the protagonists of Boris Ryabinin’s works of art. He also wrote an educational book for those who want to get a dog, and told how to prepare for this event, how to raise a pet.

“My body is changing: everything teenagers want to know and what parents are embarrassed to talk about” Jerry Bailey

Finally, I would like to recommend a very necessary, useful and serious book. She will give the teenager answers to many questions, tell how the body changes in the process of growing up and how it is easier to get through this period. Sometimes children are embarrassed to talk about this topic with moms and dads, this publication will help them perfectly.

By the way, the book will also be very useful for parents – to remember what their son or daughter is going through now. I think it will make life easier for the whole family.

More great books, verified by readers of children’s libraries and their staff, – in the rubric “Librarian Tips”.
