A solemn event dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day was held in the Novocherkassk garrison, in which veterans, internationalist soldiers, military personnel of the Southern Military District and representatives of the city administration took part.

During the event, all those present honored the main defender of the Fatherland – veteran of the Great Patriotic War Boris Nikolayevich Tumanov, who celebrated his 100th anniversary.

Also, the command and personnel of the association laid wreaths and honored the memory of the soldiers who gave their lives for our Motherland.

Servicemen who distinguished themselves in combat training were presented with awards, certificates and gratitude.

The event ended with a festive concert of the Song and Dance Ensemble of the Southern Military District and the State Academic Song and Dance Ensemble of the Don Cossacks named after A.N. Kvasova.

For reference: Boris Nikolaevich was born on February 21, 1921 in the Tambov region. Member of the Finnish Campaign 1939 -1940. From the first day of the Great Patriotic War until May 9, 1945, he fought as part of the Karelian Front.

He graduated from the war with the rank of captain. As part of the parade crew of the Karelian Front, he took part in the first Victory Parade on June 24, 1945. He retired with the military rank of Colonel.
