In the Voronezh region, at the Pogonovo training ground, the crews of the tank and motorized rifle regiments of the Vislensk motorized rifle division of the Western Military District were selected for training under the new combat training program Steel Hunter in the Nizhny Novgorod region.
To be included in one of the 6 streams of cadets who will be trained at the regional training center of the Western Military District, more than 600 servicemen performed test firing races as part of the crews of T-72B tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles.
Six crews will be formed from the winners of the competition to improve the level of combat training using the promising experience of the winners of the International Army Games “Tank Biathlon” and “Suvorov Onslaught”.
The instructor team consists of 8 participants and winners of the international stages of the competitions, which made up a unique combat training program. The program is based on the experience gained by instructors during competitions with foreign crews, as well as modern indicators of combat training in driving, overcoming artificial and natural obstacles using T-72B3 tanks and BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles.
The main difference between the new combat training program lies in the comprehensive training of crews from the first days of training, while the standard program implies separate training of driver mechanics, gunner-operators and commanders of combat vehicles, followed by coordination in the composition of crews, platoons, companies and battalions.
During the qualifying stage, the servicemen went through a complicated route at a specially prepared tank course, which included obstacles such as a track bridge, an anti-tank ditch, and an explosive obstacle.
During the firing stage, tankers and motorized riflemen hit the targets that appeared in the form of RPG crews, artillery guns, and combat vehicles in the trench. The distance to the target was from 600 to 1200 meters.
