While on the territory of the departmental fire station IK-6 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Smolensk Region, the squad leader, warrant officer of the internal service Yevgeny Lukyanov, and the driver of the fire engine, the petty officer of the internal service, Alexander Selikhov, saw flames bursting from the window of an apartment on the fifth floor of a nearby apartment building.

The employees of IK-6 immediately reported this incident to the division of the city fire department of the city of Roslavl and moved to the place of the fire. Inside the apartment, a sofa and part of a window were burning with an open flame; a middle-aged man was found on the sofa, practically unconscious, and a frightened woman was in the room. All victims were evacuated to the staircase.

After making sure that there was no threat to people’s lives, Evgeny Lukyanov and Alexander Selikhov began to help the employees of the city fire department who arrived at the scene in extinguishing the fire. The drivers of IK-6 Vladimir Kuzmin and Aleksey Reutov also came to their aid. The fire was successfully extinguished by united and united efforts.
