In the Murmansk region, on the basis of a mixed long-range aviation regiment, exercises were held to evacuate crews in distress.

According to the plan of the exercises, the simulated aircraft crashes in the area of the Barents Sea coast, the crew receives a command to eject, after which they find themselves in an unfamiliar area.

An An-12 aircraft rises for a radio-technical search for crews, whose task is to find flight personnel in the shortest possible time and provide it with a PDMM-47 (parachute landing soft bag), which includes all the necessary clothing and food items.

After locating the crew’s disaster location, the Mi-8 multipurpose helicopter, specially equipped with rescue equipment, receives guidance, which performs evacuation from hovering over the earth’s surface using a cargo winch.

As a result of the search and rescue measures, the crew was taken to the home airfield, where the medical personnel took the necessary measures to determine the state of health and provide the necessary medical assistance.

“This event is included in the mandatory course of combat training for both aviation rescuers and flight personnel. In the event of emergency situations, namely, being in a sparsely populated area, the crews must confidently and calmly act according to the instructions. First of all, they need to assess the surrounding area, submit a distress signal via an emergency radio station and use signaling means, “said the head of the search and rescue and parachute service of the guard unit, Captain Murat Tkhakohov.
