On the territory of the headquarters of the Eastern Military District in Khabarovsk, a grand opening of a monument to soldiers who served in the Far East in the past and present centuries took place.

The commander of the Eastern Military District, Colonel-General Gennady Zhidko, opening the monument, noted that it was dedicated to the soldiers who fought on the Chinese Eastern Railway, in the area of ​​Lake Khasan, on the Khalkhin-Khol River. Those who showed selfless perseverance and courage on the battlefields with the German fascist invaders and with the Japanese militarists in September 1945 in the Far East, those who proved to the whole world that there is no such force that could resist our soldier.

The event was also attended by military service veterans, officers of the headquarters of the Eastern Military District, a company of the guard of honor and a military band of the district headquarters.

After the inauguration of the monument, the participants of the ceremony laid red carnations in memory of the Far Eastern warriors.

The obverse of the monument shows a historical photograph taken on September 16, 1945, at the parade of Soviet troops, which took place in honor of the victory over the Japanese militarists in Harbin.
