The qualifying rounds of the International Army Games (ARMI-2021) “Suvorov Onslaught” and “Tank Biathlon” competitions started at the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan. Competitions are held among military personnel of motorized rifle and tank units.

At the Lyaur training ground, the crews of BMP-2 infantry fighting vehicles will have to overcome obstacles on a high-difficulty track, as well as hit emerging and moving targets at ranges from 900 to 2200 meters. In addition, motorized riflemen must make a march, overcoming obstacles, and then hit targets with an RPG-7V grenade launcher, a Pecheneg machine gun and a Kalashnikov assault rifle.

Servicemen of tank units will compete in firing from a 125-mm cannon of a T-72 tank and an NSVT heavy machine gun at emerging and moving targets at a distance of 900 to 2200 meters, imitating armored vehicles and low-flying helicopters. Driver mechanics will master the technique of high-speed overcoming of obstacles in the form of escarpments, trenches, ditches, track bridges, slopes and mine-explosive obstacles.

To ensure the objectivity of refereeing, units of unmanned aerial vehicles “Orlan-10” are involved in observing the actions of the crews. Drones are capable of transmitting a picture of the ongoing competition to the monitor of the command post in real time. According to the results of the competition, the best crews will represent the military base at the district stage of the competitions, which will be held in April in the Chelyabinsk region.

In total, about 300 servicemen from motorized rifle and tank units, as well as more than 30 units of military equipment, are involved in the competition.
