The main theme of the event is the development of tourism in the Far East and the whole country.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko greeted the participants of the Far East – Winter of Discoveries business forum, which kicked off on February 24 in Kamchatka.

Dmitry Chernyshenko noted that strengthening the tourism industry is the most important factor in economic growth. The tourism industry has a significant multiplier effect, stimulates the development of more than 50 related industries, which in turn provides jobs and decent wages for the local population.

“The Russian government has identified the Far Eastern District as one of its strategic priorities. Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved a national program for the development of the Far East prepared on behalf of the President. Its main goals are the accelerated growth of the regional economy, improvement of the demographic situation, stopping the migration outflow, and improving the quality of life of people. Within the framework of the national program, a plan for the tourist development of the Okrug is being developed, ”the Deputy Prime Minister said in his address.

Dmitry Chernyshenko added that the Far East attracts tourists, but due to the lack of comfortable complexes and high-quality service, this direction is not yet popular. In addition, the region is also interesting for business – investors are ready to invest in large projects, while a supporting infrastructure is needed.

“As world experience shows, it is difficult to promote a national tourism product without government participation. Therefore, we decided to act in a consolidated manner, combining the capabilities of the state and the resource of business. Work in this direction will be carried out jointly by the corporation “Tourism.RF” and Rostourism. A new national project “Tourism and hospitality industry”, the development of which was supported by the President, is almost coming out now. All instruments and measures to support the industry will be immersed in the national project. When creating territorial planning schemes, Turizm.RF will actively work with all regions of the Far East, ”Dmitry Chernyshenko said.

He added that the priority subjects for inclusion in the master plan have been identified – Primorsky Krai, Kamchatka Krai and Sakhalin Oblast. “Our goal is to ensure synergy of all participants in the process, to integrate and synchronize new tourism projects with existing plans for the development of territories,” the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

According to Dmitry Chernyshenko, Tourism.RF will act as a reliable government partner for investors and businesses. A wide range of instruments is envisaged, including direct participation and financing by the corporation of tourism support infrastructure projects. At the same time, an individual set of tools will be selected for each project, taking into account its characteristics.

“Our forum is a good opportunity to consider current initiatives, discuss new routes and propose logistics and service solutions. By joint efforts of the authorities, business, experts, I am sure we will find effective mechanisms to maximize the environmentally friendly realization of the advantages of the Far Eastern region. And the best established practices must certainly be scaled up in other regions of our country, ”concluded Dmitry Chernyshenko and wished the forum participants successful work.

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya, Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic Alexei Chekunkov, head of the Federal Agency for Tourism Zarina Doguzova, Governor of the Kamchatka Territory Vladimir Solodov and others were also announced as speakers at the forum.

The forum is held in a mixed format: face-to-face discussion of issues in the framework of key sessions and online presentations of speakers. The business event is attended by representatives of federal and regional authorities, travel operators, investors, industry experts.

Along with the traditional formats of business events, the forum will host talk shows about tourism products for residents of Kamchatka, presentations of dishes from chefs of local restaurants, as well as a creative session with the participation of popular photographers and videographers.
