Employees of the institution were awarded for their great fruitful work to support public initiatives and the implementation of socially significant creative projects among the population, as well as active participation in the city action “Gifts to the City”, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

In June 2020, employees of IK-5 installed a 3-meter flowerpot in the shape of a star on the Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Stepanov Street in Kemerovo to create a flower bed. The event took place at the initiative of the GUFSIN leadership and the department for work with the population of the central district of the regional center with the active support and participation of street residents.

In the manufacture of a metal structure in a correctional institution, the authors applied an original design solution. The rays diverging from the center of the star have different heights and when filled with earth with planted flowers, the impression of a three-dimensional architectural form is created.

A street in the center of Kemerovo is named after Nikolai Stepanov, who performed a feat in the Great Patriotic War. A native of the village of Khorosheborka, Topkinsky District, at the age of 17, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for successfully crossing the Dnieper River, eliminating an enemy ship and firmly securing a bridgehead on the river bank, while showing courage and heroism.

After the end of the war, Nikolai Petrovich worked for many years at the Kemerovo enterprise “Kuzbasselectromotor”. Residents of the street have great respect for the memory of the Hero of Kuzbass, they follow the erected stele at the beginning of the street, plant flower beds and ennoble plots near their houses.
