On February 24, consultations were held between the Special Representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia for BWI V.K. Safronkov with the Counselor-Envoy of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Moscow, Su Fanqiu, on the Middle East settlement.

A thorough exchange of views was held on the state of affairs in the sphere of second-tier banks and the coordination of Moscow and Beijing in this area. At the same time, they stated the coincidence of the positions of the two countries and the mutual disposition to continue active cooperation in the interests of advancing the peace process in the Middle East.

Russia and China agree that without a stable and just settlement of the Palestinian problem on the basis of international legal decisions, including the Security Council and UN General Assembly resolutions, the “two states” formula and the Arab Peace Initiative, stabilization in the Middle East will be impossible.

The Chinese counterpart was informed about the steps taken by Russian diplomacy aimed at promoting inter-Palestinian reconciliation.
