The Department of Military Field Surgery with the participation of the Department of Operative Surgery with Topographic Anatomy conducted a unique training course “SMART. ANGIO “
As part of the course, surgeons from different clinics in the country were able to receive training in the use of open and endovascular interventions in emergency vascular surgery for injuries and trauma. 150 years ago, the great surgeon N.I. Pirogov wrote: “A new era would have come for surgery if it were possible to quickly and accurately stop blood circulation in a large artery, without exposing or bandaging it.” At present, it is difficult to imagine modern care for the wounded, sick and injured without the use of endovascular and hybrid technologies. The fundamentals of the basic course for the treatment of vascular injuries were developed by Professor of the Department of Military Field Surgery V.A. Kornilov and the current angio course was dedicated to his memory.
With a lecture dedicated to V.A. Kornilov, the head of the Department of Military Field Surgery, Professor I.M. Samokhvalov. He spoke about the main milestones and the life path of an outstanding scientist and surgeon, who was awarded the USSR State Prize for his work on vascular trauma.
The work of the course participants took place on the basis of the experimental operating rooms of the Department of Operative Surgery (with topographic anatomy) under the guidance of specialists from the Department of Military Field Surgery, Neurosurgery and the first department (advanced surgery for doctors). Specialists from the I.I. Dzhanelidze, Russian Scientific Center for Radiology and Surgical Technologies named after Acad. A.M. Granov, City hospitals No. 26 and No. 40, Domodedovo central city hospital. Participation in the course of vascular and endovascular and trauma surgeons made it possible to make training at workstations multidisciplinary and, accordingly, the most effective in unlocking the potential of various treatment methods.
The course “SMART.ANGIO” was preceded by another one-day seminar “SMART. REBOA ”, dedicated to the basic skills of endovascular surgery for trauma for doctors of various specialties, during which the students were able to work out the basics of performing various interventions using simulators and living tissues.
A unique feature of both courses was the simultaneous use of high-quality mobile angiographs and X-ray transparent tables in several operating rooms at once, which made it possible to perform the entire range of open and endovascular interventions.
