On February 23, in the format of a videoconference, a meeting of the CWC was held under the co-chairmanship of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway I.M. Eriksen Søreide and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy J. Borrell. The event was attended by representatives of the United States, many Arab and European states, and from Russia – the special representative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs for BWI VK Safronkov.

International donors reaffirmed their commitment to providing the necessary humanitarian and economic support to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA). It was unanimously noted that there is no alternative to the international legal framework for settlement approved by the UN, which provides for the creation of two states – Palestine and Israel, coexisting in peace and security.

The Russian representative informed about our joint efforts with the PNA to counter COVID-19: the work of Russian doctors in Palestinian hospitals, the supply of test systems and the Sputnik V vaccine. At the same time, the role of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators consisting of Russia, the USA, the EU and the UN was emphasized as a unique mechanism sanctioned by the UN Security Council resolutions. There were also voiced Russian proposals on the modalities of convening an international conference on STBs, formulated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov at the meeting of the UN Security Council on January 26 this year.
