Servicemen from the intelligence units of the Russian military base in Tajikistan have begun a special exercise at the Lyaur mountain range.

During the event, servicemen will work out actions in a reconnaissance patrol and methods of disabling communications of a conditional enemy. To provide the commander of the formation with information for making a decision to conduct a military operation, reconnaissance groups will perform tasks to obtain information about the locations of the “enemy”.

Also, the scouts will work out the issues of organizing and conducting reconnaissance ambushes, raids, actions in reconnaissance patrols using the SBR-5 and PSNR-8 reconnaissance radars, the capabilities of which allow them to detect the enemy at a distance of up to 15 km, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles “Orlan-10” , capable of operating at a distance of up to 120 kilometers from the launch point, accurately determining the coordinates and nature of targets.

More than 300 military personnel are involved in the exercise, about 50 units of weapons, military and special equipment are involved. The combat training event will end on February 27.

The 201st military base in Tajikistan is the largest Russian military facility outside its borders. Located in two cities – Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance units, air defense, communications, radiation, chemical and biological defense units.
