More than 50 percent of work on the construction of roads and transport facilities within the South Road has been completed, said the Deputy Mayor in the Moscow Government for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev…
“The construction project of the South Rocada is divided into nine sections. To date, three sections of the highway have been built, active work is underway on four more, and projects are being developed on two. In general, the readiness of the Southern Rokada is 51 percent, ”explained Andrei Bochkarev.
He noted that transport facilities are currently being erected in the sections from Kaspiyskaya Street to 1st Kotlyakovsky Lane and from Maryinsky Park Street to the Moscow Ring Road. At the same time, the builders are reconstructing a section of Donetskaya Street from Kuryanovskaya Embankment to Podolskaya Street, as well as a section of the Moscow Ring Road from Kashirskoye to Besedinskoye Highway.
According to the head of the Stroykompleks, the design of the sections between Kantemirovskaya and Kaspiyskaya streets, as well as the transport interchange at the intersection of the Moscow Ring Road with Verkhniye Polya and Kapotny streets, will soon be completed.
South Rocada is one of four new chord lines. The length of the route will be about 40 kilometers, and taking into account the junctions and back-ups – about 65 kilometers. Rokada will run from the interchange of Rublevskoye Highway with the Moscow Ring Road to Verkhniye Polya Street in Kapotnya and will connect major highways of the city, such as the Moscow Ring Road, Kutuzovsky Prospect, Michurinsky Prospekt, Vernadsky Avenue, Leninsky Prospect, Profsoyuznaya Street, Varshavskoye Shosse and others. The new route will become a backup for the Moscow Ring Road and the Third Transport Ring.
