The curators of the program told about its concept, planned activities, as well as training courses.

The resource center “Mosvolonter” held an online meeting with the “silver” volunteers of the capital, where it presented the federal program for older volunteers “Young at heart”. About 100 participants joined the meeting.

It was dedicated to the plans for 2021. The participants got acquainted with the plan of events, found out which training programs they can take part in. In an informal setting, the volunteers recalled the joint volunteer events of the past years, proposed their ideas for development and discussed plans.

“We are delighted to welcome everyone who has joined our online meeting today. It’s nice to see familiar faces, our dear “silver” volunteers. We are very pleased that Mosvolonter has become the capital’s center of the Young Soul program. Senior citizens have great potential to develop a culture of good deeds, personal and professional growth. That is why it is so important to develop “silver” volunteering. The skills acquired within the framework of the program will help students in implementing their own projects, ”said Dmitry Pokrovsky, director of the Mosvolonter resource center.

Young at Heart volunteers will have more opportunities to volunteer, learn and grow. In addition, they will be able to implement their own ideas for volunteer projects. Experts on working with volunteers and developing volunteer programs in the field of “silver” volunteering will act as mentors and support the implementation of good initiatives of the participants.

And to help older volunteers prepare projects, Mosvolonter employees have developed a special course on working with spreadsheets. Participants will learn how to structure information, make complex calculations, prepare layouts for future projects.

Volunteers of the “Young at heart” program will also be able to take part in educational programs “Get involved!” and “Teach!” Get involved! Program suitable for those who are just starting their way in volunteering. Its participants will gain basic knowledge of volunteering, as well as be able to develop other competencies: study public speaking, learn about the peculiarities of communication with people with disabilities.

Experienced volunteers can complete the Teach! Program. It is aimed at training volunteers who will later begin to independently conduct classes at basic volunteer training.

For the “silver” volunteers, internships, trainings and lectures on media and communications will also be organized, master classes on the basics of photography, video editing, journalism and social networking will be held.

One of the participants of the program was Svetlana Sashurina, a volunteer, nephrologist of the highest category. She is an active volunteer in Moscow, took part in the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi, the 2018 FIFA World Cup, the volunteer mobility program in Kazan, the Spasskaya Tower International Military Music Festival, the International Moscow Book Fair, the All-Russian Health Forum nations are the basis of Russia’s prosperity ”. Svetlana supports the eventful and social direction of the volunteer movement, as well as large-scale city events. For several years now, she has been helping a boarding house for labor veterans, where elderly people and people with disabilities live who need comprehensive medical and social assistance.

“I was invited to join the Young at Heart project, and I immediately agreed. It’s great that we silver volunteers will be able to learn how to work with spreadsheets. It is important for us to understand these issues related to computers. Thanks to training programs, we can learn how to become team leaders at events. It seems to me that it is interesting to be a manager, to communicate with people – it’s great, ”Svetlana Sashurina shared.

In order to join the “Young at heart” program, you must fill out the participant’s questionnaire, information about which is published in Mosvolonter account on the VKontakte network.
