A new form of training for students of medical universities appeared in the city clinical hospital named after S.I. Spasokukotsky at the Department of Therapy, Moscow State University of Medicine and Dentistry named after A.I. Evdokimova. More than 20 broadcasts from the red zone have already been watched by 460 students.

“At the end of January, our hospital returned to receiving planned and emergency patients without infectious diseases. In January of this year, our doctors managed to conduct 23 broadcasts and examine about 100 patients in the red zone online for treating patients with coronavirus, ”said Alexey Pogonin, chief physician of the city clinical hospital named after S.I. Spasokukotsky.

For classes, doctors use the Remote Assistance service, which works with an interactive platform and the latest generation augmented reality glasses with a camera and microphone. Students using a remote connection in the lecture hall can see and hear everything that the specialist does during the examination. So, future doctors have the opportunity to learn how to provide medical care to patients with COVID-19.

“When we faced COVID-19, students switched to distance learning, many clinical hospitals were redesigned to treat the coronavirus. We now have the opportunity to enable our students to study fully. If lectures can be watched online, why can’t you conduct online examinations? In the red zone, doctors of the S.I. Spasokukotsky is donned virtual reality goggles, and a professor in the lecture hall uses a remote connection to conduct an examination in front of students. Despite the difficult times, our department has managed to maintain a full-fledged educational process, ”noted Arkady Vertkin, director of the therapeutic clinic and head of the department of therapy, clinical pharmacology and emergency medical care at the Moscow State Medical University named after A. E. Evdokimov.
