The Mayor of Moscow noted the selfless work of the employees of the Moscow Office of Rospotrebnadzor, who are fighting COVID-19.

It was possible to cope with the acute epidemiological situation in the city thanks to the teamwork of the Rospotrebnadzor Office for the city of Moscow with the Moscow Government. The results of the activities of the supervisory authority in 2020 were summed up at a meeting of the specialized board. The Mayor of Moscow noted the dedication of the service employees who took the front line in the fight against COVID-19.

“Moscow was on the front line, and you were on the front line of fire. This is a huge risk to your life, your health. I think that many of you have been ill yourself. Surely each of you has loved ones, relatives who were seriously ill, many, perhaps, did not survive this illness. And nevertheless, you fulfilled your duty, your duties, you were in the most difficult areas from the first days – at airports, then in transport, in shopping facilities. You gave prescriptions to patients, visited them at home. These are huge risks, huge difficulties, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.

The mayor of Moscow also noted that the city listened to the recommendations of experts, so the worst-case scenario of a pandemic was avoided. The health care system and the work of city services were reorganized in time. This would have taken much longer in normal times.

“If tough restrictive measures had not been taken, there would not have been appropriate control over their implementation, if with your help we would not have quickly and efficiently transferred Moscow healthcare to the new operating mode, I think there would have been many more victims. Therefore, you can be proud that you have saved many and many Muscovites with your work, your selfless labor, ”Sergei Sobyanin noted.

The Mayor of Moscow awarded the employees of the Moscow Office of Rospotrebnadzor and congratulated its employees on the upcoming International Women’s Day.

Supervision psychology and invaluable experience

Elena Andreeva, Head of the Department of the Federal Service for Supervision of Consumer Rights Protection and Human Welfare in Moscow, noted the experience that all employees received during the pandemic in 2020. The service has learned to act in one team with the Moscow Government and other supervisory authorities.

“I have the impression that our supervision psychology has changed. We are from a control and supervisory body, which is perceived rather hard, which comes with some kind of sanctions and does not leave without them, turned into a team where we ourselves studied, taught colleagues, overcame all the difficulties that fell to us for the first time in our life. This experience is invaluable, ”Elena Andreeva emphasized.

Alexey Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma, stressed that the coronavirus has affected the life of society and all state institutions. The joint work of all authorities helped to normalize the situation.

“We are ready to fight”

The Mayor of Moscow recalled how the capital experienced the spring peak of the pandemic in May 2020. The streets were empty, there were many ambulances and resuscitation vehicles on the roads, and overcrowded hospitals. “Moscow was at the forefront in this situation due to objective reasons and a huge flow of people who come to the capital from all over Russia and from abroad, there is a huge concentration of the population. Overcoming difficulties and getting out of this situation with dignity was not an easy task, ”said Sergei Sobyanin.

In the summer in Moscow, the situation stabilized, in this regard, it was decided to remove a number of restrictions. In a short time, places in cafes and restaurants were booked a month in advance.

“The most unpleasant thing was that the epidemic returned after a few months on an even more terrible scale. The second time to fight it is probably even more difficult when you have gone through a difficult path, sighed, and again the doctors have to go to the red zone, you return to the front line, and again introduce restrictive measures. It is very difficult psychologically. Including for ordinary Muscovites. I hope we have overcome the worst. Even if something happens, we are already different, we know how to treat, how to fight infection and what to do. We are ready to fight much more than a year ago, ”Sergei Sobyanin emphasized.
