At the Kobu-Bashi training ground in Karachay-Cherkessia, during a tactical exercise with units of a mountain motorized rifle formation of the 49th Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO), a pack-transport platoon for the first time delivered more than five tons of cargo with ammunition and food to a mountain peak.

According to the tactical exercise plan, motorized riflemen received the task of moving into the mountainous area and equipping positions for conducting offensive operations.

The motorized rifle subunit was to block the advance of the mock enemy forces on the mountain pass and proceed to the attack. At the same time, the servicemen used modern “Ratnik” equipment sets, mining equipment and the latest “Azart” radio stations.

In the course of the logistics support of the grouping of forces, the pack-transport platoon of the mountain formation carried out the delivery of ammunition for the military personnel in the conditions of mountainous and wooded areas. More than 30 horses of the Karachai and Mongolian breeds delivered more than five tons of cargo per day, having covered over 20 km.

About 300 servicemen of the Southern Military District were involved in the exercise, more than 80 units of the mountain brigade’s weapons were involved, including modernized multipurpose tractors, armored vehicles of the Mustang family, as well as ZU-23 anti-aircraft guns and Sani mortars.
