In the future, the new drug is supposed to be used in combination with the Sputnik V two-component vaccine.

Vaccination of volunteers has begun as part of the Sputnik Light vaccine study. In the future, the new drug is supposed to be used in combination with the Sputnik V two-component vaccine.

“Today the first participants in the study of the Sputnik Light coronavirus vaccine were vaccinated. As volunteers are tested, vaccinations will increase. Now applications are actively being submitted, in two days 490 people underwent a medical examination, “she said.

Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.

Anyone over 18 years of age without medical contraindications can take part in the Sputnik Light study. Among the key restrictions are the presence of antibodies to coronavirus, the vaccination against COVID-19 or any other vaccination delivered within 30 days, SARS in the last two weeks, severe allergic reactions to drugs, exacerbation of allergic diseases on the day of vaccination. Those who have already had or are sick with coronavirus will also not be able to undergo the procedure. In addition, it is not recommended to take part in the study for people with severe chronic diseases, pregnant and lactating women.

“Sputnik V is a two-component vaccine. The first component is based on the 26th serotype of adenovirus, and the second component is based on the 5th serotype of adenovirus. Sputnik Light is the first component of this vaccine, they are identical in composition. There is a hypothesis that after the first vaccination, a person can develop a sufficient level of antibodies. If this hypothesis is confirmed, Sputnik Light can be used in combination with Sputnik V for revaccination of those who have already been vaccinated or have already been ill, but their antibody level decreases or initially the antibody level was low. It is also expected that this vaccine will be used for young people between 18 and 30 years old, who develop a good immune response, and already at the first replication they develop sufficient antibodies. Sputnik Light in combination with Sputnik V will provide more opportunities for vaccination, ”said Anastasia Rakova.

The study will use all digital developments that have positively proven themselves when working on the Sputnik V vaccine: electronic examination protocols, the Volunteer Diary mobile application and a telemedicine center.

Also in Moscow, it is planned to conduct a study of the nasal form of the vaccine against coronavirus. The necessary documents are now being developed by specialists of the N.F. Gamalei. It is assumed that after the completion of the research, this form of vaccination will be recommended for those who are contraindicated in injections.

“This is the same“ Sputnik V ”two-component vaccine, only the package will contain an additional spray nozzle. Despite the seeming simplicity of the introduction, in any case, a medical professional should do this and also twice. First of all, this form forms local immunity. This method, of course, is less effective, but safer. We are very interested that by the autumn season, by the period of the growth of viral diseases, Muscovites have a wider choice of both vaccines and forms of these vaccines, ”said Anastasia Rakova.

She recalled that nasal forms of vaccines already exist, for example against influenza.

On the basis of the children’s city clinical hospital named after Z.A. Bashlyaeva is planning to conduct a clinical study of the Sputnik V vaccine for adolescents.

Research has already begun on the stability of immunity after vaccination. It will allow you to determine when those who have been vaccinated against coronavirus need to get vaccinated again. Two thousand people will take an antibody test every month for six months. Thus, specialists will see the dynamics of changes that will occur in each of the study participants after vaccination. The study will make it possible to understand whether re-vaccination against COVID-19 will be required on the eve of the next epidemiological autumn-winter season.
