Vice-Admiral Igor Osipov, Commander of the Black Sea Fleet, took part in the first meeting of the Marine Collegium of the Sevastopol City Branch of the Russian Geographical Society (RGO).

The event was held on the territory of the Museum and Exhibition Complex of the Russian Geographical Society “Konstantinovskaya Battery”.

Before the start of the Marine Collegium, the participants of the meeting laid flowers at the Mass Grave of the defenders of the Konstantinovsky Ravelin.

During the first meeting, the board reviewed organizational issues and a plan for the activities of the Black Sea Fleet and the Sevastopol city branch of the Russian Geographical Society for 2021 for the implementation of joint projects, events and programs of a scientific, historical and patriotic nature.

Representatives of the command of the Black Sea Fleet, the maritime community and the veteran movement took part in the meeting under the leadership of the Head of the Regional Department of the Russian Geographical Society Vladimir Vorobyov.

The Maritime Collegium was created in accordance with the decision of the Council of the Branch of the Society and acts to develop geographical science, study and preserve the unique ecosystem of the Black Sea, organize expeditionary activities, including underwater research, preserve the glorious maritime traditions of Russia and the Hero City of Sevastopol, maritime historical and cultural heritage, history of the Black Sea Fleet.
