Earlier, in St. Petersburg in the branch of the Central Naval Museum “Submarine D-2” Narodovolets “opened two exhibitions dedicated to the 115th anniversary of the formation of the Russian submarine fleet.
The first exhibition “The Most Unusual Submarines in the World” presents historical materials showing both realized and unrealized projects of domestic submarines, which served as a breakthrough in the implementation of more modern and necessary submarines at that time. The exhibition broadens the understanding of the field of submarine creation, the use of the submarine fleet and attracts the attention of young people, especially of military age. The second exhibition is dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the world’s first round-the-world underwater passage of two Soviet nuclear submarines K-116 and K-133 of the USSR Navy. For 52 days the boats passed the most difficult route, including the Drake Passage and the tip of South America, where there are treacherous currents and icebergs. At this exhibition, visitors will learn about all the complexities of the underwater passage, and of course about the people who, by personal example, performed this honorable and extremely difficult task.
