How to combine the professions of a poet and a doctor, and is it difficult to translate poetry into Russian? You can learn about this and much more during an online marathon with contemporary poetesses. It is organized by the libraries of the capital’s Department of Culture. Six live meetings will take place on March 3 and 4. The interview will be broadcast at 12:00, 14:00 and 16:00.
The authors will read their works, talk about the creative path, where they get inspiration from, and share their plans for the future.
The schedule of virtual meetings, as well as links to live broadcasts, are published on the portal “Online. Bibliogorod”… No prior registration is required to watch the broadcasts.
Live broadcasts will be conducted from the Publishing House Library, a reading room in the media center of Zaryadye Park, which opened in November last year.

The first meeting will take place on March 3 at 12:00. Poetess Polina Orynyanskaya will be a guest of the studio. She will talk about how her collections of poetry “Lines melt on the Internet …”, “Give me a name” and “The color of lupine” were created, and also read her poems from the cycle of landscape and love lyrics. In addition, Polina will talk with the audience about the role of female poetry in the modern world.
A meeting with the poet Irina Kotova is scheduled at 14:00. She, like many writers, also has a profession that is far from the art world. Irina Kotova – Doctor of Medical Sciences, Leading Researcher of the Department of Surgical Endocrinology at the Moscow Regional Research Clinical Institute named after M.F. Vladimirsky. Her poetry is popular not only in Russia, but also in other countries of the world. For example, Irina’s works are often translated into Italian. An online marathon participant will tell you whether it is difficult to combine the professions of a doctor and a poet and what inspires her to write sensual poems.
And the meeting with the poet, prose writer and translator Ganna Shevchenko will begin at 16:00. The author will share with the audience the secrets of how to bring out several characters in a small poem without confusing the reader. Also Ganna Shevchenko will tell the audience about her poetic book “Housewife Blues” and read her poems.
A rich program awaits poetry lovers on March 4th. So, at 12:00 the poet Dana Kurskaya will be a guest of the Publishing House Library. The critic Pavel Basinsky compared the poems of Dana Kurskaya with the works of the sixties poets. For their perception, the author’s performance, accents and intonations are important. Selected works of the poetess have been translated into English, French, Tatar and Korean. During the broadcast, Dana will share with the audience her experience of organizing the International Annual Festival of Contemporary Poetry MyFest, which she has been holding since 2015. In addition, she will talk about how she combines poetry and publishing.
At 14:00 the poet, writer and literary critic Natalia Chernykh will take over the literary relay. She will talk about her collection “Private Screening”, read several poems from it. In addition, from an interview with the author, it will be possible to learn how to run your own blog and website about contemporary poetry.
The online marathon “Women-Poets” will conclude with a meeting with the poet and prose writer Polina Koritskaya. She will tell about herself and her work, share stories of the creation of the books “Hand-rolled” and “Symptoms of Life”. The live broadcast with Polina Koritskaya will begin at 16:00.
The Library of Publishing Houses is a joint project of the Moscow Directorate for the Development of Cultural Centers of the Moscow Department of Culture and Zaryadye Park. The book fund of the “Library of Publishing Houses” consists of more than 1.5 thousand books, provided by the leading publishing houses of the city. The fund will be renewed and replenished several times a year.
A methodological council works on the basis of the project. It includes specialists from the Central City Youth Library named after M.A. Svetlov, Central City Business Library, Central City Children’s Library named after A.P. Gaidar. Literature, which is presented on the shelves of the “Library of Publishing Houses”, is peer reviewed by the council.
Every month, the Publishing House Library hosts live broadcasts of interviews with contemporary writers, poets and other representatives of the literary environment and the publishing industry. The program can be found on the website “Online. Bibliogorod” in the section “Library of Publishers”.
The Online.Bibliogorod portal was created by the Moscow Directorate for the Development of Cultural Centers of the Department of Culture. It began work in April last year as an electronic resource with access to information content of libraries and cultural centers.
The portal menu consists of six sections: “Books”, “Online Activities”, “Video”, “Contests and Actions”, “Territory of Writers”, “Thematic Libraries”. On the site you can read works for free, watch performances, concerts and lectures, take part in master classes.
