On March 2, in Votkinsk (Udmurt Republic), the grand opening of the competition took place – the Cup of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and the All-Russian competition of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia “Cup of CV VDPO” in fire and rescue sports.

The opening ceremony of the competition was attended by the Head of the Main Fire Department of the EMERCOM of Russia, Major General of the Internal Service Valentin Nelyubov, Director of the Executive Committee of the International Sports Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, Vice President of the Federation of Fire and Applied Sports of Russia Andrei Kalinin; Head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Udmurt Republic, Major General Pyotr Fomin, representatives of the administration of the subject, Plenipotentiary of the Central Council of the All-Russian Voluntary Fire Society Svetlana Sergeeva; 4-time Olympic champion, 5-time world champion, winner of the World Cup, 39-time champion of the USSR, Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of Russia – Galina Kulakova.

In total, 13 teams from all over the country came to the city. Team members are multiple record holders with state honorary titles, champions and prize-winners of the World, Europe, international, all-Russian and republican competitions.

The competition takes place at the site of a new training center for training fire and rescue units created to protect against emergencies and large wildfires in the Udmurt Republic, which was inaugurated in 2020.

– A year ago, we stood here at the opening of this sports complex and dreamed that as many competitions as possible would take place here, and today we are already meeting you at the All-Russian competitions in fire and rescue sports! We were confident that the track and field arena would make an additional significant contribution of the Udmurt Republic to the revival of sports in the Russian Federation, and we were not mistaken! We are proud, as far from every constituent entity of Russia has such a complex. Its functioning allows to bring fire and rescue sport to a qualitatively new level, – noted Pyotr Fomin.

Today, participants compete in climbing an assault ladder to the windows of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors of the training tower.

The starts will be held in several groups: men, boys (13-14 years old, 15-16 years old, 17-18 years old), women and girls (13-14 years old, 15-16 years old, 17-18 years old).
