It will be held on March 27 from 20:30 to 21:30.

For the 13th time Moscow will host the annual ecological action “Earth Hour”, organized by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). In the capital, the action is supported by the Moscow Government and the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources. This year it will be held on March 27 from 20:30 to 21:30.

The goal of the project is to draw attention to the need to respect nature, to use wisely and save the planet’s resources. Traditionally, during Earth Hour, millions of people around the world turn off their lights and household appliances, and tens of thousands of famous buildings and landmarks turn off their lights as a sign of concern for the future of the planet.

“This is not only a very spectacular event and the opportunity to see an unusual night panorama of the capital, it is a large-scale event that can draw the attention of city residents to the preservation of natural resources and demonstrate that everyone can personally take part in this. Environmental education has been one of the most important tasks of the Department since its inception, so we support the Earth Hour campaign every year, ”said the head of the Moscow

Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Anton Kulbachevsky.

This year the theme of the action will be the openness of environmental information. Participants will learn where to get information about the state of the environment, what ecological openness is and how it can be promoted.

“We call on business to support us in this direction, and we also plan to expand the environmental education program in this area so that information about the state of the environment is as transparent and accessible as possible for Muscovites,” added Anton Kulbachevsky.

For those who are interested in environmental issues or want to learn more about the topic of the action, WWF-Russia specialists have prepared a special test. Anyone can pass it on the site project. The user will have to answer seven questions, after which he will receive a memo with valuable instructions.

Earth Hour is the most massive action in the history of mankind. Traditionally, it is attended by two billion people from more than 180 countries. In Russia, the action has been running since 2009. Since 2011, from 16 to 20 million Russians have taken part in it annually. Last year, Earth Hour was held online for the first time.
