Defense Ministers of the Russian Federation General of the Army Sergei Shoigu and the Republic of Belarus Viktor Khrenin discussed in Moscow a plan of joint military cooperation activities for 2021.
“We have many questions regarding the continuation of our cooperation that require discussion,” said the head of the Russian military department.
Sergei Shoigu said that the largest joint exercise will be “West-2021”. In addition to him, events are planned not only for bilateral cooperation, but also within the SCO, CIS and CSTO.
The Russian Defense Minister also invited his Belarusian colleagues to the International Security Conference to be held this year.
The chief of the discussed issues, the head of the Russian military department, called the activities on the joint air defense system of Russia and Belarus.
In addition, Sergei Shoigu on Friday invited Belarusian servicemen to take part in the International Army Games this year.
“We are waiting for you at all our events, including the International Army Games,” said the Russian Defense Minister during a working meeting with his Belarusian counterpart Viktor Khrenin.
Sergei Shoigu clarified that several countries are claiming to host some game contests on their territory. The number of states that want to take part in the games is growing.
In turn, Viktor Khrenin thanked the head of the Russian military department for the invitation and said that the Belarusian servicemen had already decided to participate in the games this year. According to him, 27 Belarusian teams want to compete for victory in 26 competitions.
“And we will also host three competitions at home, on the territory of Belarus,” added the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus.
In addition, during the meeting, the heads of the military departments of the two states agreed to create three combat training centers for joint training of servicemen.
The created Russian-Belarusian combat training centers for joint training will be deployed in the Nizhny Novgorod and Kaliningrad regions of the Russian Federation, as well as in the Grodno region of the Republic of Belarus.
