The day before in Budapest (Hungary), within the framework of the World Cup in fencing, the team saber competition took place, which became gold for the Russian team, which included three army men – Kamil Ibragimov, Anatoly Kostenko and Konstantin Lokhanov. The tournament is qualifying for the Olympic Games in Tokyo (Japan).

Senior Lieutenant Kamil Ibragimov, Sergeant Konstantin Lokhanov, Anatoly Kostenko and Veniamin Reshetnikov won the team saber competition at the Fencing World Cup in Budapest.

In the first two meetings, the Russian fencers won against the national teams of Uzbekistan (45:14) and Georgia (45:20), and at the stage of the quarterfinals they met with the Italians – 45:43. This victory brought the Russian team not only a place in the semifinals of these competitions, but also a ticket to the Olympic tournament.

Having convincingly won against the hosts of the tournament (45:35) in the semifinals, the Russian team met with fencers from Germany. As in the quarterfinal meeting with the Italians, the Russians took the lead at first, but the Germans were able to recoup and come out ahead. Before the last fight, our team lost 39:40, but Kamil Ibragimov outplayed Matias Sabo and brought his team victory in the meeting and in the tournament – 45:43.

In the match for third place, the Hungarian national team beat the South Korean team with a score of 45:40.
