As part of the first stage of a large-scale command post exercise (KShU) with guards airborne assault and artillery regiments from Stavropol and Anapa, held from March 16 to 19 at the Opuk training ground in Crimea, the subunits and command and control bodies of the two regiments after being brought to the highest degree readiness carried out the transportation of personnel and equipment in a combined way from the Stavropol and Krasnodar Territories to the indicated area on the Crimean Peninsula, where, having deployed and prepared for operation, control points, began planning military operations.

“With the receipt of the task, according to the plan of the exercise, the Guards Airborne Assault Caucasian Cossack Regiment carried out the transportation of personnel and equipment in a combined way from the concentration area in Novorossiysk to the Crimean Peninsula, with the task, by the actions of the forward detachment, to ensure the landing of the main forces of the regiment transported by sea transport, – the commander of the guard regiment, Lieutenant Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky, noted, “In the future, to exercise control in the designated area of ​​responsibility in order to ensure the transfer of the main forces of the compound to the territory of Crimea.”

In the course of working out training questions, a complex, rapidly changing situation was created, which is characteristic of modern combat operations.

The control posts of regiments and battalions periodically changed the deployment areas. When collecting and processing information, assessing the situation, developing decisions and setting combat missions, the Andromeda-D automated troop command and control system was widely used, which makes it possible to cover all command and control levels of the Airborne Forces.

Also, the communications subdivisions ensured uninterrupted command and control of the troops in the conditions of the use of electronic warfare by the conditional enemy.

In total, more than 2,000 servicemen and 500 units of combat and special equipment of the Guards Airborne Assault Caucasian Cossack Regiment from Stavropol and the Guards Artillery, 7 Il-76md airplanes of military transport aviation, as well as airplanes and helicopters of ground attack and army aviation.
