Today, the Beijing Jintai Art Gallery hosted a ceremony of awarding Chinese citizens with departmental and commemorative medals of the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Russian Pobeda Organizing Committee.

During the solemn event, a presentation of the memorial album “They are remembered in Russia and China” was also held, dedicated to the Soviet Union’s assistance to the Chinese people in 1937-1945.

The event began with a minute of silence and a flower-laying ceremony at the Soviet Falcon sculpture. The event was attended by the leadership of the Russian Embassy in China, representatives of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, activists of public organizations in China, Russian and Chinese schoolchildren.

Departmental and commemorative medals were presented to the Director of the Beijing Jintai Art Gallery, Mr. Yuan Xikun, the Chairman of the Dalian Society for Cultural Exchanges between Russia and China in Port Arthur, Mr. Kai Chenglian, and the Director of the Beijing Exhibition, Mr. Tsun Zhifang.

In his address to the audience, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to China A.I. Denisov noted the need to preserve the unique experience acquired by our peoples during the Second World War.

After the awarding ceremony, a presentation of the memorial album “They are remembered in Russia and China” was held, prepared by the staff of the Representative Office for the organization and conduct of military memorial work in the PRC.

The book presents the point of view of the Russian side on the events that took place on the territory of modern China in the 30-40s. XX century. The texts were prepared in Russian and Chinese, based on archival materials provided by the Central AMO RF and RGIVA. When creating the book, the memoirs of the participants of the last war, photographic materials of the Mission were used.
