For the first time, a curling tournament was held in IK-10 of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia in the Tver region. The competitions were organized on the hockey rink of the institution on the initiative of the employees of the educational work department.

The equipment necessary for the game was made at the center for labor adaptation of convicts. The ice was marked with a special marking with a starting line and a playing “house”. The bits were made of stone and equipped with a metal handle. The only significant differences from the generally accepted requirements were the small size of the field for the game and the lack of special shoes for the players.

Each of the 12 squads of the colony at the tournament was represented by a team of four players. All participants were given the rules of the game in advance, and before the start of the tournament, an employee of the educational department gave the necessary explanations. Then the convicts were given time to learn how to properly launch the bat.

In the course of the game, the convicts realized that they could not win without well-thought-out tactics. It is necessary not only to place a bat, but also to prevent rivals from getting into the “house” with their stone. It turned out to be not easy to do, and the game acquired dynamism and excitement.

The three teams with the most points reached the final. The players of the national team of 4-5 squads became the winners of the tournament.
