Engineers of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District (YuVO) have begun to form a peacekeeping unit in Kabardino-Balkaria.

The unit consists of more than 50 servicemen, which will be equipped with about 20 units of special equipment, including a modern water treatment plant SKO-10 “Hygiene”, armored personnel carriers BTR-82A, tractors TO-25 and TO-18, excavators EOV-25321 , automobile crane for military use KS-45731M1.

The formation of the unit will last until the end of March this year, after which the engineers will undergo special training for peacekeepers.

In the course of training, servicemen will learn how to neutralize unexploded mines and land mines, build roads in difficult terrain and ensure the delivery of humanitarian supplies to the affected population.

Also, the engineering units of the peacekeeping forces will be trained to restore traffic, electricity, water and heat supply to social facilities and residential buildings.

In the course of practical actions, servicemen will use mine detectors IMP-S2, IMP-3, MG-1I, combined PPO-2I, seekers INVU-3M, as well as protective suits of a sapper OVR-2 “Sokol”, whose armored elements are made of lightweight and high-strength polyethylene, and the fabric is made of non-combustible material.
