As part of the planned launch into the sea, the crew of the small amphibious assault ship on an air cushion (MDKVP) “Mordovia” completed the tasks of laying mines in the maritime range in the Baltic Sea.

The crew of the ship carried out the setting of a defensive anti-submarine minefield in a given area, placed training bottom mines. The mines delivered by the MDKVP were further successfully defused with the help of naval artillery.

In addition to mining the water area, the MDKVP crew worked out protection against weapons of mass destruction during the passage by sea. The main attention was paid to the fulfillment of the standards for sealing the ship’s hull and carrying out special treatment of the ship in case of a conditional entry into the area of ​​radiation contamination.

In the course of carrying out combat training tasks, the crew of the Mordovia MDKVP carried out an amphibious assault landing on an unequipped coast. In the landing, a division of the Baltic Fleet marines on armored personnel carriers BTR-82A was involved. During the landing of the amphibious assault from Mordovia, the servicemen of the Marine Corps worked out actions to break through the enemy’s anti-amphibious defense from the sea.

“Mordovia” and the same type MDKVP “Evgeny Kocheshkov” are in service with the Baltic Fleet and are the world’s largest amphibious air cushion ships.

MDKVP Mordovia – Project 12322 Zubr small amphibious assault ship. It is intended for receiving from an equipped or unequipped coast of amphibious assault units with military equipment, transportation by sea, landing on the enemy coast and fire support of the landing troops. Due to the design features of the air cushion, it can move along the ground, bypassing small obstacles (ditches and trenches) and minefields, move through swamps and land troops in the depths of enemy defenses. For MDKVP “Zubr” available for landing up to 70 percent of the total length of the coastline of the seas and oceans of the world.
