A large bilateral exercise with motorized rifle formations of the combined-arms army of the Eastern Military District, stationed in the Amur Region and the Khabarovsk Territory, started at the Tsugol training ground in the Trans-Baikal Territory.

As part of this exercise, the units made combined marches in advance over distances of over 2 thousand kilometers to an unfamiliar training ground. For efficiency, the capabilities of railways, highways and military transport aviation were used.

This week, the units of the two formations were raised on a training alert and began to practice tactical tasks.

During the drawing of practical actions, tactical groups of formations will oppose each other. At the end of the exercise, a stage of live firing will take place, where the servicemen will work out the defense of the indicated lines and deliver a counterattack as part of the group of forces.

A feature of the exercise will be to test the actions of command personnel and subunits at an unfamiliar range, to develop non-standard techniques and methods for achieving tactical success, as well as to use incoming modern weapons and equipment in difficult climatic conditions.

The exercise involved hundreds of pieces of equipment, including heavy flamethrower systems “Solntsepek”, self-propelled artillery guns “Akatsiya”, “Gvozdika”, “Hyacinth”, rocket systems “Grad” and “Uragan”, upgraded T-72B3 and T-80BV tanks, as well as unmanned aircraft and modern electronic warfare.
