Over the past two years, more than 700 applications for the mediation procedure were accepted, three quarters of them managed to be settled.

Residents of Moscow can use the services of the capital’s professional mediation community. It includes over 200 specialists. Mediation services in different districts of Moscow began to appear in 2018 on the basis of family centers, where residents of the capital, faced with difficult life circumstances, can receive comprehensive support.

“Conflict situations or crises occur in almost every family. It is important at such moments to calmly and carefully find a compromise. If it is not possible to resolve the dispute on their own or the conflict drags on, the family can contact the mediation service, where the mediator-mediator will help to understand the problem. There are 11 district mediation services in Moscow – a single network of centers where you can apply for help on condition of anonymity. Over the past two years, more than 700 applications for mediation have been accepted, three quarters of them have been settled, ”said the head

Metropolitan Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Evgeniy Struzhak

Mediation is an alternative procedure for resolving civil or family disputes with the participation of a neutral mediator (mediator). The parties freely and independently, on condition of anonymity and equality, come to a final agreement.

You can use the support of a mediator at any stage of the conflict: both before a dispute arises, for example, when determining property shares in a family, and after claims have arisen, or if the dispute is already being considered in court. A mediation agreement is accepted by all parties to the conflict – it is approved by a notary and accepted by the court as an amicable agreement. The mediation agreement has the status of an executive document.

“Most often, Muscovites turn to mediators to resolve conflicts between parents and children – about their upbringing, education and hobbies. A considerable share is accounted for by disputes over divorce proceedings, ”notes Irina Ponomareva, director of the family center of the Northern Administrative District (CAO) of Moscow.

Mediation staff are constantly improving their qualifications. They are trained in Institute of Continuing Professional Education of Social Workers, And also participate in the largest domestic and international conferences. Since the beginning of 2021, service staff have already joined three major international forums.

One of the key areas is the formation of knowledge and skills in the use of mediation technologies in adolescents entering adulthood. Under the mediation service of the CAO, such classes for children are held on an ongoing basis. More than 100 people are already involved in the project.

On March 19, Moscow will host a citywide open day of mediation services, where everyone can get acquainted with the work of specialists and ask them questions of interest. To receive the service, residents of the capital need to contact any district mediation service. A complete list of services and detailed information are available on the portal “My family center”.
