The solemn closing ceremony of the II International Olympiad in Geography among pupils of pre-university educational institutions of the CIS member states took place in Moscow.

The closing ceremony of the Olympics, the awarding of prize-winners and winners were held online at the same time in the Main Personnel Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the Moscow Cadet Corps “Boarding School for the Pupils of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.”

The prize-winners and winners of the International Olympiad were awarded by Colonel-General V.P. Goremykin, Secretary of the Council of Defense Ministers of the CIS Member States, Major General Yu.A. Dashkin and Head of the Department of Economic and Social Geography of Moscow State Pedagogical University, Doctor of Pedagogy, Professor A.A. Lobzhanidze.

In the course of difficult intellectual competitions in the knowledge of geographic objects, landscape, territories, countries, continents and oceans, competitive tests in drawing up a terrain plan, route schemes and the ability to work with contour maps, knowledge of basic concepts, terms, definitions studied in geography lessons, there were the best young military geographers from the Commonwealth countries have been identified.

The winners in the individual championship of the International Olympiad in Geography were Angelina Popova, Alla Bolkhova, Diana Vildyaeva, Albina Fayzullina – pupils of the Moscow cadet corps “Boarding school for pupils of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation”, Vladimir Ignatkovich and Pavel Malyshev – pupils of the Minsk Suvorov military school, as well as -Academic Lyceum “Temurbeklar Maktabi” of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

An absolute winner diploma, a valuable gift and the main prize of the International Olympiad in Geography – the Challenge Cup of the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation – Chairman of the Council of Defense Ministers of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States was awarded to the team of the Moscow cadet corps “Boarding school for pupils of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.”
