Servicemen of the engineering units of the combined-arms formation of the Central Military District (CVO) during the exercise, which took place at the Yurginsky training ground in the Kemerovo region, set up a pontoon crossing on the ice surface of the Tom River and ensured the passage of the military equipment convoy.

As part of the maneuvers, the servicemen of the engineering subdivisions made a march to the area of the exercise, carried out reconnaissance of the area with the study of the coastline in the places where the pontoon links were launched and the thickness of the ice in the zone of the rifts. After that, military engineers assembled pontoon links on the ice surface of the river, and then destroyed the ice with explosive charges along the perimeter of the bridge for its installation on the water. The guidance of the pontoon ferry ensured the transfer of personnel and equipment to the opposite bank of the Tom River. The total length of the established crossing was more than 100 meters.

About 500 servicemen and more than 30 units of military and special equipment were involved in the exercises.

The combined arms formation of the Central Military District is deployed in the Novosibirsk, Kemerovo, Omsk, Tyumen, Irkutsk regions, Altai Territory and the Republic of Tyva. It includes motorized rifle, artillery and anti-aircraft missile formations, RChBZ and communications troops.
