At the training ground of the Eastern Military District in the Amur Region, an exercise was conducted with engineer-sapper units to clear the routes of movement of troop convoys during multi-kilometer marches. A feature of the exercise was the use of new methods of rapid detection of mine clearance using electronic warfare (EW) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

In the course of the practical part of the exercise, the engineers were tasked with demining several routes with a length of several tens of kilometers each, for the rapid transfer of tactical groups. Based on the experience of modern armed conflicts, to strengthen the sapper units, the calculations of unmanned aircraft “Orlan-10” and the means of electronic warfare “Lesochek” were allocated.

Specialists conducted aerial reconnaissance, identified safe routes, and discovered sabotage and reconnaissance groups of the imaginary enemy. On certain routes ahead of the troop columns, advanced engineer-sapper groups on armored vehicles with active jamming stations for radio stations and guided explosive devices moved forward.

In places where danger was detected, sappers carried out operational demining of areas using modern protective suits OVR-2 “Sokol” and mine detectors “Korshun”.

New techniques for conducting rapid engineering and sapper reconnaissance made it possible to complete the tasks of transferring troops in a timely manner and, in general, showed a great advantage over the methods of demining previously used.
