In Kamchatka, the crew of the strategic nuclear submarine (ARPKSN) Vladimir Monomakh conducted an exercise to combat survivability in the event of a fire in one of the compartments of the nuclear-powered ship. Practical actions were improved by submariners both at the fire fighting range of the Pacific Fleet Submarine Force Training Center and directly on board the ARPKSN.

During the exercise, the submariners worked out the standards for sealing the emergency compartment, putting on personal protective equipment, creating lines of defense, trained to act when localizing and extinguishing a fire using special heat-resistant protective equipment.

In addition, emergency lighting sources and a backup communication system with neighboring compartments and the central post were involved in the input.

Practicing damage control skills is a mandatory element of the basic training of the Pacific Fleet crews before submarines go to sea.
