Artillerymen of the Ulyanovsk guards unit of the Airborne Forces at the Totskoye training ground in the Orenburg region conducted a shooting and fire control exercise.
The commanders of artillery units worked out a tactical battle scenario to block conventional illegal armed formations and destroy their positions in the face of a constant threat of countermeasures from enemy fire weapons, as well as observance of secrecy and surprise of maneuvers.
The crews of the artillerymen deployed 122-mm D-30 howitzers in a few seconds, which have repeatedly proved their reliability in a combat situation and are in service in more than 50 armies of the world. The confident actions of the crews and the competent leadership of the commanders made it possible to complete all the assigned tasks for the “excellent” assessment. All targets were hit.
“The methodology for training artillery units is based on the experience of local armed conflicts,” says Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Chikunov, chief of artillery of the Ulyanovsk Airborne Forces unit.
The main task of the artillerymen at this stage of training is to work out the issues of control and adjustment of fire of each crew with the maximum rate of preparation of guns and firing, for inflicting massive fire damage on a conventional enemy. “
Simultaneously with the calculations of the howitzer division, professional and well-coordinated actions showed the calculations of the self-propelled artillery battery and the calculations of the ATGM battery. The paratroopers-artillerymen improved their skills in solving firing tasks from the 122-mm D-30 howitzer and the 120-mm 2S9 NONA self-propelled artillery mount.
In the course of daily combat training, we constantly work out all the elements and, of course, pay great attention to the issues of combat coordination of the military collective. In the process of working out the standards, the personnel develop the skills and abilities necessary for the clear fulfillment of functional duties, correct and coordinated actions in the performance of combat missions, because the successful result depends to a greater extent on this, “said the commander of the howitzer-artillery battalion of the Guard Lieutenant Colonel Ildar Garifulin.
More than 200 paratroopers-artillerymen were involved in the exercise, and more than 40 pieces of weapons and military equipment were involved: 122-mm D-30 howitzers, 120-mm 2S9 NONA self-propelled artillery mount and anti-tank guided missile systems.
