The renowned separate helicopter regiment of the Sevastopol Order of Kutuzov of the 4th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Military District (YuVO), based in the Krasnodar Territory, celebrated the 79th anniversary of its formation.

On the parade ground of one of the oldest aviation formations, a solemn formation of the regiment’s personnel took place with the removal of the State Flag of the Russian Federation and the Battle Banner of the military unit. The distinguished servicemen were awarded with departmental awards, certificates and valuable gifts.

On the occasion of the holiday, a meeting of regiment veterans was held on the territory of the regiment, as well as a static display of helicopter technology.

In 1942, the 807th Assault Aviation Regiment was formed, armed with the famous Il-2, in 1944 the regiment received the honorary name “Sevastopol” for the courage and courage shown by the pilots during the battles for the city. Later, a helicopter squadron was formed on the basis of the assault regiment, and in 1961 a separate helicopter regiment was organized.

During the Great Patriotic War, the regiment took part in the battles for Stalingrad, Donbass, Taganrog, the Baltic States and Crimea.

Later, the regiment’s personnel took part in combat missions in Afghanistan, Abkhazia, Georgia, Tajikistan and Chechnya.

Currently, the regiment is equipped with the most modern weapons and military equipment, including the Ka-52, Mi-28N, Mi-28UB, Mi-8AMTSh, Mi-35M helicopters, as well as a unique runway capable of receiving aircraft of any class and purpose.
