First, the site will be checked by technical trains, and then by empty trains according to the metro schedule.

Preparations for the commissioning of the Karamyshevskaya and Mnevniki stations have begun on the western section of the Big Circle Line (BCL) of the metro. This was announced by the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Urban Development Policy and Construction Andrey Bochkarev

“We are preparing for the opening of the Karamyshevskaya and Mnevniki stations on the western section of the Big Circle Metro Line. After the inspection of the site by technical trains is completed, we will start running in empty electric trains according to the metro schedule and then we will open traffic, ”he said.

Now the site is being checked by means of a utility train with an oversized carriage. “On the oversized car there is a metal bar that flies out of the latch and collapses if the car passes an oversized space in the tunnel, thus signaling the need to eliminate the problem. After completion of the check and elimination of possible oversize, voltage will be applied to the contact rail at the site and a test train with a laboratory car will be launched. Further, ordinary metro trains without passengers will be allowed to run tracks, ”said Yuri Kravtsov, General Director of Mosinzhproekt JSC.

Also, work is being completed on the erection of the main structures at the Terekhovo station, which is also part of the western section of the BCL. Monolithic works are 90 percent completed, architectural finishing – 73 percent. Also, a ventilation system is carried out at the station, escalators are installed. Monolithic work is also underway at the Kuntsevskaya station, finishing of office premises and a platform is underway.

In general, the western section of the BCL is planned to be completed by the end of the year. The tunneling of all tunnels was completed back in 2020, and work is now underway to equip single-track tunnels in the section from Khoroshevskaya to Mnevniki. Between the stations “Mnevniki”, “Terekhovo” and “Kuntsevskaya” in double-track tunnels, the superstructure of the track is being installed, the rigid foundation of the tunnels has already been completed.

“We are introducing the western section of the Big Circle Line in stages: the other day we are planning to launch a test train from the Khoroshevskaya station to Mnevnikov, and by the end of March it will start with passengers,” said Andrei Bochkarev. “Thus, we plan to open the section from Mnevnikov to Davydkov approximately at the end of the year.”

The length of the western section of the BCL is nine kilometers. It includes the stations Karamyshevskaya (the project name is Narodnogo Opolcheniya Street), Mnevniki (formerly Karamyshevskaya), Terekhovo (formerly called Mnevniki) and Kuntsevskaya. After the opening of the site, transport services for 530 thousand people living in the districts of Khoroshevo-Mnevniki, Kuntsevo, Filevsky Park and Fili-Davydkovo will improve.

BCL may become the longest metro ring line in the world. Its length will be 70 kilometers, 31 stations and three electric depots (including the existing section “Kakhovskaya” – “Kashirskaya”) will be located on the ring. The BCL will connect the existing and prospective radial lines at a distance of up to 10 kilometers from the existing Ring Line, this will relieve the first (stations inside the ring) and the second (Ring Line) interchange subway lines.
