On March 19, the opening ceremony of the “cross” Year of interregional cooperation between Russia and France was held in the format of a videoconference.

The event was attended by the co-chairs of the Russian-French Commission on Cooperation between Territorial Entities – Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation V.E. Ilyichev and Commissioner of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Development of International Interregional Cooperation K. Moro, as well as Ambassador of Russia to France A.Yu. Meshkov , Ambassador of France to Russia P. Levy, Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation M.E. Shvydkoy, leaders of the Leningrad and Novgorod regions, mayors of the French cities of Nice and Dijon.

The Year of Interregional Cooperation occupies a key place in the agenda of bilateral relations between Russia and France for 2021. Its program includes more than 150 joint projects in the fields of culture, economics, education, tourism, health care and sports.

This new “cross” action is designed to enrich Russian-French ties by giving a new impetus to direct contacts between regions in various fields, to contribute to a better strengthening of mutual understanding between the peoples of our countries, to emphasize the diversity of culture, traditions, geography of Russia and France.
